Federal High Court Remands Chioma Okoli in Prison

In a shocking turn of events, a 39-year-old Nigerian entrepreneur, Chioma Okoli, is facing a seven-year prison sentence for allegedly defaming a popular tomato puree brand on Facebook.

According to reports, Okoli posted a negative review of Erisco Foods' tomato puree on her Facebook page, which caught the attention of the company's management.

Erisco Foods filed a defamation lawsuit against Okoli, who was subsequently arrested and arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja. Justice Ojukwu granted bail to Okoli in the sum of N5 million, but she was unable to meet the conditions and remains remanded in prison.
